Why we do what we do
We Bring Out the Best in Youth, Our Communities, and Ourselves
The Huron Valley Optimists are dedicated to inspiring hope, fostering a positive vision, and making a meaningful impact in our community.
Our club primarily serves the Huron Valley School District area, but we welcome opportunities to support others when approved by our Board of Directors.

Membership
Membership is open to adults of good character from all walks of business, social, and cultural life. All memberships are held by individuals.
Anyone with executive or supervisory authority—such as coaches, assistant coaches, referees, or other leaders managing Club projects—must be a Club member to receive benefits such as liability insurance coverage. (Contracted or paid individuals are not required to join.)
Registered Junior Optimist International (JOI) members also enjoy the benefits of the international organization, including liability insurance.
How we help
Our Service
While our major projects are highlighted on this site, we also respond to special requests from teachers, school administrators, and community leaders when resources allow.
We help coordinate the national Celebrate Community event, sanctioned by the U.S. Congress and jointly supported by Kiwanis, Lions, Optimists, and Rotarians—four major service organizations working together to make a difference.
Testimonials
What the Community is Saying
“My two sons and my daughter have participated in the Fishing Derby and they had a great time. They start asking every January when it will happen again. Thank you Huron Valley Optimists”
“I donate to the Blessings in a Backpack program because I feel it is very important for the children to get nutrition over the weekend. So many youth suffer from food insecurity, not going to happen here when I can help.”
“Optimists do so many positive projects in our community, our state, our country and our world. I am very proud to be a member of Huron Valley Optimist Club. Come visit us and you’ll fall in love too.”
